Tell Yahoo! Japan to ban the sale of whale products on its website!
Yahoo!'s Japanese subsidiary -- Yahoo! Japan -- sells hundreds of whale products on its website. By doing so, it is supporting the country’s senseless and illegal slaughter of whales for profit. Urge executives at Yahoo! to use their influence over Yahoo! Japan to ban the sale of whale products on all of its websites.

Japan has all along been claiming their whaling is for "scientific research". As such, all commercial trading of whale products should not have happened logically and Yahoo! should act immediately.

If someone can use Japanese to write something on Y! website/blog might help even more.

Japan's whaling is legal via the IWC loophole of "scientific research", which allow them a quota each year.
IWC also has regulations as to fully using the whale meat after scientific research, thus selling the whale meat is also "permitted" this way.

However, EXPORTING whale meat to other countries is illegal due to CITES.

Yet, this means that we cannot take any legal action if the whale meat is not to be exported.

Actually the partition is to put pressure on executives at Yahoo! headquarter to ban whale selling in Yahoo! Japan.
The thing is, if whale meat is sold in Yahoo! Japan, who can guarantee that the meat will not be sold (and hence, shipped) to overseas buyers?

Legally ok in Japan, but still not logical as it's claimed purpose. Expecially with other crafts from whale bones, teeth or parts.

The Japanese government is being pressurized every year for the whale meat industry, but you must acknowledge that the right wing hardly cares, they will just pull out the whole "racism" and "not respecting their tradition" problem.

Yahoo! Japan is also very detached from the main Yahoo.
At least, my Japanese Yahoo E-mail account is not connected to other language servers.

However, my Chinese account works everywhere apart from Yahoo Japan.
Once I logged in, I'm in yahoo HK, yahoo UK and yahoo ES
If I have to switch to my Spanish Yahoo account I have to log out from my Chinese account.
But I don't have to do anything with my Japanese account because it is separate.

The Japanese population is well aware that whale meat is not welcomed by foreigners.
If foreigners try to enter a restaurant with whale meat, the waitors/ waitresses will often ask them to leave.
"This is a very traditional Japanese restaurant."
"Sorry, we sell whale meat here to Japanese customers only."
"Sorry, our restaurant is very traditional and not for cultural outsiders."


Of course we know, but the laws do not work our way...

In the past years, even petitions which were written correctly were not successful in terminating Yahoo! Japan's whale meat sales.
Not to mention that this petition has errors.

The restaurant may actually not have any whale meat served (at least I didn't see it when I was in Japan, nor in the supermarkets--I was going with my Japanese friend, so people didn't think that I was not a Japanese); 2. It is like foreigners (especially Westerners) going to a Chinese restaurant asking for dog meat-->Oh, by the way, this is a "joke" created by the racists (just like the "Ching-Chong" thing). If you ask this question to an ethnic Chinese in the US, you would be considered as racist, even though dogs are not endangered.

I don't mean this...
I mean if the restaurants sell whale meat or regularly serve whale meat, these restaurahts usually bluntly tell foreign customers that they are not welcomed.
These restaurants are not comfortable with foreigners in the first place.

In the past, whale meat is quite seasonal. There are still restaurants that sell whale meat in certain seasons.
