The following moth sp was found at Aberdeen Country Park, feeding on Bauhinia championii. Other images will be provided in due course. 24 small (~ 1 mm dia) white ova with a black dot in the middle were found on the underside of a relatively new leaf (reddiish colored) which I first noticed because of bite marks on the edges and a small Geometridae larva attached to the leaf also. (see next post). In due course the ova all hatched out and initially I thought they might be lobster moth larvae--except for the bristles all over their (~4 mm) body. I wonder if the geometrid larva might not be an insectivore like the one in Hawaii, because over time, I could not find any of the small larvae which I had left together with the geometrid caterpillar. About a month later, I found 3 nearly mature larvae across the trail from where I had first found the ova. The most mature was about 6 cm; the next was about 5 cm and the third was (guessing at 3rd instar) about 4 cm. Subsequently, the two oldest pupated about a day apart. They also eclosed about two days apart this past week--both females. Head to wingtip is about 3-4 cm. ID would be greatly appreciated.
