Another moth taken at a 125w MV lamp on 6th February 2010. The ID is suggested and would be outside the flight period noted by Roger (but only by a month) and a new site. So probably wrong!!

maybe correct. Please note I mis-spelt the genus in my thesis - should be Coleothrix.

There are two other virtually identical species - Addyme inductalis and Calguia defiguralis, the former probably also resident in Hong Kong and the latter not yet confirmed.  Species of Coleothrix have a costal tuft of scales on the ventral surface of the forewing, near the base, which is very difficult to see without catching the moth and lifting the forewing.

Pyralidae, Phycitinae - probably Coleothrix swinhoeella, though there are two other very similar species, separable only by dissection of the genitalia.
