These 2 images are of a moth taken from the trap on Friday night. The hindwings are a smoky grey colour. It is a devil to photograph - won't settle. The side shotwas taken at 3200 ISO to get enough speed to capture it handheld in poor light. The top shot was taken at ISO100 on the Lumix ZX18, supported though not
on a tripod. Using the Lumix for RAW above ISO100 is useless. The 3200 ISO shot was with a Canon 1D mk III. What a difference in noise levels.
pavlovskii has a grey "smudge" in the white trapezoidal patch on the forewing. Another similar Monopis is M. longella, which is almost identical to pavlovskii, but has a narrower and darker grey "smudge" in the white trapezoidal patch on the forewing. There appears to be a degree of confusion between these two species in the literature.
