Oxyodes scrobiculata

This catocaline noctuid is common in HK and can be seen alomst anywhere outside the urban areas.

The photo shows the unusual resting posture to good effect. Forewing length (base to apex) is around 22mm.

The colour is dulled a bit in this photo due to the mercury vapour light source.

Agreed - the resting posture is rather different.

This is a widespread and common species in Hong Kong.

this is a common and widespread species in Hong Kong.
