Tortricidae, Chlidanotinae - Polylopha cassiicola Liu & Kawabe, 1993
seems to have been having a good year so far...
I didn't report this species in my thesis; the species was first reported for HK in Nasu (2006) Zootaxa 1369: 55–61, based on material from the 1990s -
"Material examined. China: Hong Kong,
Victoria Peak (400 m), 2♂, 1♀, vii.1991, K.Li leg., 1♂, viii.1991, K. Li leg., 1♀, viii-ix.1992, A. C. Galsworthy leg., 2♂, v.1993, A. C. Galsworthy leg., 1♂, 2♀, vi.1993, A. C. Galsworthy leg., 2♀, vii.1993, K. Li leg.;
New Territories, Lam Tsuen 1♂, 2♀, 24.ii.2002, M. J. Sterling leg., 2♂, 2002, M. J. Sterling leg.
(all BMNH)."
I have a few more recent records, from 11 Apr 2009 and 14 Apr 2010 here in Lam Tsuen. It might be this is a species that goes through long cycles at low abundance then picks up for a few years... I never saw it during my fieldwork for the thesis.
cheers, Roger.
