Please note there are at least two, possibly three species involved in the S. xanthomochla species group. Genitalia dissections, and possibly new species descriptions, are required.
Found several moths flying around Macaranga tanarius leaves and mating thereon in Shau Kei Wan on 24th-25th Sept 2011. The smaller ones are about 4.5 mm from head to wing tip. The larger ones are about 6 mm. The number observed on the 25th numbered significantly more. Posture is typical. The background brownish wing color is actually rather shiny gold or bronze.
There are several very similar species in this group (S. xanthomochla), possibly three species, maybe more. This one seems to have quite broad yellow bands.
cheers,
Roger.
