On 24th Nov 2010, we visited a friend in Ma Nam Wat in Sai Kung.  Nearby was a stand of small bamboo (see image below) that had quite a few leaves on the end of many stems "sewn" together.  Examination showed some sort of moth larvae at work.  On 4th Dec, a cocoon was observed in the leaf litter and the moth eclosed on 30 Dec.  The body length of the moth is 13 mm.  Below are the resultant images.  Can anyone ID this one?

Crambidae, Spilomelinae - Crypsiptya coclesalis

38 hostplant records of this species on the HOSTS records database, almost all from Poaceae and about half of those from "Bambusa".

Don't suppose you have the actual species of bamboo that the moth was eating, do you?

cheers,  Roger.

Not yet, but can eventually obtain it.

So, to confirm, the one I reared IS diff from Blackdogto's?

Thanks for the ID!

yes, David, the other was Sinibotys habisalis - a different genus & species, though same family and subfamily.
