[Edited 2 Dec 2006, correcting errors and adding additional species from Nadia (thank you Nadia). ]
Out of interest, below is a brief description of the species of Coprinae in Hong Kong. They are in order of size. I have ignored horns etc as these vary sexually and individually variable. I have not been able to find descriptions of the following species:
Liatongus pugionatus (Boheman 1858);
Onthophagus dapcauensis Boucomont 1921;
Onthophagus lunatus Harold 1868;
Onthophagus egenus Mulsant 1842;
Onthophagus anguicorius Boucomont 1914
Onthophagus argyropygus Gillet 1927;
Onthophagus nitidus nitidus Waterhouse 1875;
Onthophagus trituber Wiedeman 1823;
Onthophagus convexicollis Boheman 1858;
Sisyphus bowringi White 1844 and
Paragymnopleurus (Gymnopleurus) melanarius (Harold 1867).
Copris cariniceps Felsche, 1910
Copris ochus Motschulsky, 1860
Copris tripartitus Waterhouse, 1875
Gymnopleurus brahminus (Waterhouse, 1890)
Onthophagus fuscopunctatus Boucomont 1914 ( It may be a reference to Onthophagus fuscopunctulatus Boucomont 1914 or as Nadia points out this may be a reference to Onthophagus fuscopunctatus Lansberge, 1883. Both are probably synonyms anyway)
If I find descriptions of these species I will add later. Any omissions?
