Just spent 3 whole days to go through the book. Very informative. An interesting thing is that the picture shown in #1 said there were 2142 pictures but the book on sale has only 2132 pictures! Out of the 1985 illustrated species, 59 of them were new to me. Most of them are beetles. The photo illustration in the book is super.
The book has a good coverage of beetles and moths. About 7% of known species in Hong Kong are Sternorrhyncha (scale, mealybugs, psyllids, lac insect, whiteflies etc.) and yet they are not too well represented. A few typos, misspelling, mis-identification and synonyms were spotted. Hopefully if there were a second edition, the accuracy can be improved.
Consider the high quality of the printing, the richness of information and low selling price, I would give four stars out of five for this publication.
